Cincinnati Masters

The Cincinnati Masters also called the Western and Southern Open is an annual outdoor hard court tennis event held in Mason, Ohio, USA. It is part of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 of the 2015 ATP World Tour and the WTA Premier 5 Tournaments of the 2015 WTA Tour, as well as 2015 US Open Series Event.
The tournament is the second largest summer tennis event in the US after the US Open. Roger Federer and Serena Williams were the defending champions and both successfully defend their titles. Roger Federer defeated Novak Djokovic in finals by 7-6, 6-3 victory and Serena Williams defeated Simona Halep by 6-3, 7-6 in final. This was Simona Halep second final in this month. Roger Federer won his seventh Cincinnati Masters title. Serena Williams won 69th singles title of her career.

Novak Djokovic lost his fifth Cincinnati Finals and third by Roger Federer. He is the only top seeded player who had never won Cincinnati Finals. Andy Murray did it twice while Rafael Nadal only once. This was Serena William’s second consecutive Cincinnati win and her fourth title of the year. This win by Roger Federer and Serena Williams is an indication of tough US Open game which is going to start by the end of this month in New York.

Belgium Grand Prix 2015

Lewis Hamilton beats Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to make a dominant win at the Belgian Grand Prix to extend his championship Lead. The world champion converted Pole Position into a lead on the first lap and was in control throughout, taking his sixth win and extending his lead to 28 points.
Lotus Roman Grosjean took third after a rear tyre failure on Sebastian Vettel Ferrari with two laps to go. Vettel was holding off the Lotus on a one-stop strategy when the tyre exploded. It was the same tyre that had failed on Rosberg Mercedes during Friday Practice. The failure though prompted a furious reaction from Vettel, who was one of several leading drivers to express their concerns about tyre safety at the drivers briefing after practice on Friday.

Hamilton was on pole by nearly half a second from Rosberg and his advantage continued into the race. He was helped by Rosberg being delayed by the Force India of Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo Red Bull who beat him off the line from fourth and fifth places on the grid, as third placed Valtteri Bottas Williams dropped back.

Hamilton stabilized the gap and cruised to his sixth victory of the year, out of 11 races to start the second half of the season in the perfect manner. Next race will held in Italy on 6th September 2015. Till then stay tuned.

2015 Rogers Cup

The 2015 Rogers Cup presented by National Bank is a Tennis Tournament played on Outdoor Hard Courts. It was the 126th edition for men and the 114th edition for women of the Canadian Open, and is part of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 of the 2015 ATP World Tour, and of the WTA Premier 5 Tournaments of the 2015 WTA Tour, plus is the 2015 US Open series event.
The men’s event was held at the Uniprix Stadium in Montreal, from August 10 to August 16, and the Women event at the Rexall Centre in Toronto, from August 10 to August 16. Second Seed Andy Murray won the Men’s Singles title while Belinda Bencic won the Women Singles Title. Andy Murray ended an eight match losing run against Novak Djokovic, beating the world number one for the first time in two years to win the Rogers Cup.

The British Number one’s 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory in three hours in Montreal earned him a fourth title of the year. A first win over the Serbian since the 2013 Wimbledon final will be a huge boost for Murray before the US Open in New York starts on 31 August. The Scot dominated from the baseline as he claimed an 11th Masters title.

On the other hand, eighteen year old Belinda Bencic won women Singles beating Simona Halep in final. Simona retired in third round after losing three game points due to injury in leg. Men’s doubles tournament is won by Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan. Women’s doubles is won by Bethanie Mattek Sands and Lucie Safarova.

UEFA Super Cup

The 2015 UEFA Super Cup was the 40th UEFA Super Cup, an annual Football match organized by UEFA and contested by the reigning champions of the two main European Club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The match featured two Spanish teams Barcelona and Sevilla, the winners of 2014-15 UEFA Champions League and 2014-15 UEFA Europa League.
It was played at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi, Georgia. This was the first time in the tournament history that a Super Cup match is a rematch of a previous edition. The two teams in question met before in the 2006 UEFA Super Cup in Monaco, both qualifying under same instances, when Sevilla won 3-0.

Barcelona won the game 5-4 after extra time to claim their fifth Super Cup Title, tying Milan’s record. Their ninth Super Cup appearance was also a record, two ahead of Milan. Dani Alves fourth Super Cup win and fifth appearance matched Paolo Maldini records, while Luis Enrique became the fourth man to lift the UEFA Super Cup as coach. The nine goals scored were also the most in any Super Cup fixture, and the attendance of 51,940 was a record for a one-off, neutral venue UEFA Super Cup.

Messi scored first two goals for Barcelona and won man of the match award. The 2016 UEFA Super Cup final will held on 9th August 2016 at Lerkendal Stadion in Norway. This will be the first UEFA Super Cup hosted in Norway. The stadium has the capacity for 21,166 spectators, making it the second largest football stadium in Norway.

International Champions Cup

International Champions Cup is an annual club association football friendly exhibition competition. It is the first to be played separately in Australia, China and United States. The Australian edition of the tournament featured three teams played across three matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Real Madrid was the first club to announce their involvement.
Manchester city and Roma were later confirmed to take part in the Australian Tournament. The Chinese edition of the tournament had featured Real Madrid, Milan and Inter Milan playing a total of three matches in different cities. The North American edition of the tournament had featured 10 teams but some games will be played in Mexico, Canada, Italy and England.

Each team involved in the US edition will play four games, except the three United States based teams that will only play two games. 2014 International Champions Cup winners Manchester United were the first team to confirm their involvement in US Edition. The Australian Edition of 2015 is won by Real Madrid which is their second title.

The China Edition of ICC is won by Real Madrid which is their third title. Paris Saint Germain won the US Edition of ICC which is their first title. One match during the 2014 tournament set all time record for attendance at a soccer game in the United States. The new record of 109,318 spectators was set at the match between Manchester United and Real Madrid in University of Michigan Stadium.

Special Olympics World Games

The Special Olympics World Games are a multi-sport event for athletes with intellectual disabilities being held in Los Angeles, United States, in the tradition of Special Olympics movement. These games, hosting around 6,500 athletes from 177 countries, marked the first time in sixteen years that the biennial Special Olympics World Games have been hosted by the United States.
Although local Special Olympics events and competitions are held around the world every day, the World Games are flagship events. The goal is to showcase the skills and accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities on a global stage. The World Games feature more than a week of competitions involving thousands of athletes. Through media coverage of the games, the stories and achievements of children and adults with intellectual disabilities are made known to millions of people worldwide.

Special Olympics World Games take place every two years and alternate between summer and Winter Games, a schedule similar to the Olympics and Paralympics. The athletes are adults and children with intellectual disabilities who can range from gifted, world class competitions to average athletes to those with limited physical disability. It is a fundamental rule of Special Olympics competitions that athletes are matched up according to their ability and age.
