Rafael Nadal won French Open 2020

Rafael Nadal tied Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slam titles by producing a nearly perfect performance against Novak Djokovic in the French Open Final. Nadal is the oldest French Open champion since 1972 and the more than 15 years between his first and most recent Grand Slam titles is the longest such span for a man.

Nadal equaled long-time rival Federer for the most major singles tennis championships won by a man and added to his own record at Roland Garros with No. 13 on the red clay, courtesy of a surprisingly dominant 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 victory over the No. 1-ranked Djokovic.

When Nadal ended it with an ace, he dropped to his knees, smiled widely and pumped his arms. Nadal, No. 2 in the rankings, improved to 100-2 at the French Open, including a combined 26-0 in semi-finals and finals, and picked up his fourth consecutive title in Paris. The 34-year-old left-hander from Spain previously put together streaks of four French Open championships from 2005-08, then five in a row from 2010-14, to go alongside his four trophies at the US Open, two at Wimbledon and one at the Australian Open.

Nadal is now even with Federer for the first time since each man had zero Slams to his name in 2003. Federer's first arrived at Wimbledon that year; Nadal, naturally, earned his first in France in 2005, by which point he trailed 4-0. Djokovic's loss left him at 17 majors; had he won, the trio's standings would have read 20-19-18. Djokovic had won 14 of the last 18 matchups against Nadal, and led 29-26 overall, including a 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 win at the 2019 Australian Open final.

US Open 2019: Rafael Nadal won 19th Grand Slam title

Rafael Nadal won his 19th Grand Slam title after holding off Russian Daniil Medvedev exhilarating fightback in one of the greatest US Open finals. Spain's Nadal, 33, won 7-5 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-4 against the fifth seed in New York. Nadal, seeded second, was cruising at two sets and a breakup, only for Medvedev to force a decider. But Nadal stopped his momentum to clinch a thrilling win in four hours and 50 minutes - just four minutes shorter than the longest US Open final.

Nadal's victory moves him within one of Swiss rival Roger Federer's all-time leading tally of men's Grand Slam victories. After taking his third match point, Nadal collapsed to the court in celebration, covering his face as he contemplated another famous victory which epitomized his fighting spirit.
Medvedev, 23, trudged around the net to warmly congratulate his opponent, who looked on the verge of tears as he hid behind his sweat-soaked vest while taking rapturous acclaim. Nadal, Federer and Djokovic has won the past 12 Grand Slams after the Spaniard lifted the trophy in New York for the fourth time. Now Nadal has the chance to draw level with 38-year-old Federer, who was nine titles better off than his long-time rival in 2007, at the Australian Open in January.

Despite Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic being in their 30s, nobody has been able to break their stranglehold on the men's game and Medvedev was the latest to fall short after a heroic effort. In Women’s singles, Bianca Andreescu defeats Serena Williams to win her first Grand Slam title.

Rafael Nadal wins 12th French Open Title

Rafael Nadal remains unbeatable on the clay of Rolland Gaross. Not even a spirited challenge by the world No 4, Dominic Thiem, could stop the 33-year-old Spaniard winning the French Open for a 12th time on Sunday, a feat unlikely to be matched in their lifetimes, if ever.
For two sets the 25-year-old Austrian made a proper fight of it. But Nadal responded to the threat by tearing through the final two sets like the wind that has disrupted the schedule over the past few days to win 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in three hours.

In his previous 11 finals only a handful of players have detained him longer than Thiem: Mariano Puerta on Nadal’s winning debut as a teenager in 2005, Roger Federer three times and Novak Djokovic in his toughest final, seven years ago. But a string of dazzled contenders have fallen with embarrassing haste – most notably Federer, when Nadal took only an hour and 48 minutes in allowing him only four games in 2008.

Novak Djokovic wins record seventh Australian Open

At 31 years old, Novak Djokovic has established himself as the player to beat on the ATP circuit. The No. 1 player in the world claimed his third consecutive Grand Slam with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 victory against Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open men’s final with the sweep also giving Djokovic his seventh career title in Melbourne.
The achievement makes Djokovic the Australian Open's winningest player in history, drawing him ahead of Roy Emerson and Roger Federer. Federer was eliminated by Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Round of 16 after winning the last two opens on the hard court. Djokovic put on an utter clinic against Nadal, serving up eight aces to Nadal's three and notching five break points while never having his own serve broken. He won on 81 percent of his first serves, and he somehow won on 84 percent of his second serves. He somehow took a Nadal who had not lost a set all Open coming into the final and made him look completely toothless for the 2 hour and 4 minute duration of the match.

Djokovic now has 15 career Grand Slam wins, after having 12 at this time last year. Nadal, 32, retired in the US Open semifinals due to pain in his knee, so his greatness in this tournament perhaps flew under the radar a bit. The last time these two greats played was in Wimbledon, a 5-hour 17-minute thriller that saw Djokovic win in five sets. This match went a little differently.

In Women’s Singles Japan's Naomi Osaka beat Czech Petra Kvitova in a thrilling Australian Open final to win back-to-back Grand Slams and become the new world number one. N. Mahut and P.H. Herbert won Men’s Double title. S. Zhang and S. Stosur won Women’s Doubles title. B. Krejcikova and R. Ram won mixed double title.

Rafael Nadal wins 11th French Open Title

Rafael Nadal’s incredible domination continued with his 11th French Open win. The 32 year old defeated Austria Dominic Thiem 6-4 6-3 6-2 to add yet another Grand Slam title to his resume.
It was Nadal's seventh win in 10 matches against the 24-year-old Thiem, who has been the only player to beat Nadal on clay over the past few years. Nadal was impressive in the title round and managed to keep his flawless French final mark. The top-ranked Nadal only lost one set in his latest title at Roland Garros, making this one of his most dominant and impressive victories yet.

Nadal's incredible record in Paris now reads 86 wins and two defeats. He has won every final he has reached, and in those 11 finals he has dropped just six sets. Rosewall, Laver and Federer are the only other players to have won three or more slams past the age of 30. History rushes to embrace Nadal with every passing triumph.

No-one can catch Nadal now. Not on clay. Victory confirmed his world No 1 ranking and he heads for Wimbledon next month restored to near his best form on his favourite surface. He moves alongside Margaret Court for the most titles at the same slam, 11. His total of 17 majors edges him closer to the 20 owned by 36-year-old Roger Federer, who will be favourite to add to that at the All England Club, where he has been champion eight times.

Roger Federer wins Shanghai Masters

Roger Federer got one over his old rival Rafael Nadal to win the Shanghai Masters 6-4, 6-3 in a showdown between the two best players on the planet. It was a 94th title for the Swiss legend, drawing him level with the great Ivan Lendl, and was a fifth victory in a row against world number one Nadal.
Nadal was ahead in their overall record down the years, with 23 wins to Federer’s 14 but he was up against it almost right away. Number two Federer put Nadal under the cosh immediately on the Spaniard’s serve, breaking him in the first game – to roars of approval from the majority inside the arena. Another break to 36 year old Federer in the pivotal fifth game of the second set put him in a reach of a second Shanghai Masters crown – and a sixth title in 2017.

Federer, fondly known as "Cow" in China for his laid-back personality, had started the better in grabbing the break and he then rattled through his own service game for 2-0. Federer, a 19-time Grand Slam champion, was in full flow under the Qizhong Tennis Center roof, which was closed because of downpours in Shanghai. Nadal, 31, fresh from winning the US Open and China Open, groaned while lashing many of his shots; Federer was all quiet efficiency.

Federer rapidly made it 4-2 with two booming aces in a row, drawing huge cheers from much of the stadium. In contrast, Nadal - a 16-time Grand Slam winner but who had never won the Shanghai Masters - was laboring through his service games. There were suggestions that Federer might not be quite as fresh as his old foe, having been pushed to three sets a day earlier in the second semi-final against Juan Martin Del Potro.

US Open 2017

Rafael Nadal against Kevin Anderson in the US Open Final shaped up as quite a mismatch. His game at a high level at the end of an unusually easy path through a Grand Slam field, Nadal overwhelmed first time major finalist Anderson 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 to win his third championship at Flushing Meadows.

It is the No. 1-ranked Nadal’s second Grand Slam title of the year and 16th overall. Among men, only Roger Federer has more, with 19. Each of those two long-time rivals won two of the four majors in 2017, marking a return of both to the heights of their sport. Not only didn’t an injury-hampered Nadal win a Grand Slam tournament in 2015 or 2016—his first such shutouts since 2004, when he was still a teenager—but he didn’t even make it to a final in that span.
At No.32, Anderson was the lowest-ranked US Open men’s finalist since the ATP computer rankings began in 1973. The 31-year-old South African never had been past the quarterfinals at any major tournament in 33 previous appearances, so when he won his semifinal on Friday, he climbed into the stands to celebrate. There would be no such joy for him on this day. Nadal simply dominated every facet of the 2½-hour final.

Nadal added to his US Open triumphs in 2010 and 2013 and improved to 16-7 in Grand Slam finals. For the first time since 2013, he appeared in three in a single season, losing to Federer at the Australian Open in January and then beating Stan Wawrinka for his record 10th French Open trophy in June. Nadal’s career haul also includes two trophies from Wimbledon and one from the Australian Open. All of his big victories have come while being coached by his uncle, Toni, who is now stepping aside.

Sloane Stephens won Women’s single title. Jean Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau won Men’s doubles title. Chan Yung Jan and Martina Hingis won the Women’s double title. Martina Hingis and Jamie Murray won the Mixed doubles titles.

French Open 2017

Make it 10 French Open titles for Rafael Nadal, the undisputed king of Clay. Nadal wrapped up his record 10th French Open title and claimed his 15th Grand Slam title by battering third seeded Stan Wawrinka in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-1. It took the fourth seeded Nadal just over two hours to win, with the Spaniard sealing it on his second match point when Wawrinka sliced a backhand volley into the net.
Nadal did not drop a set all tournament on his way to his 15th Grand Slam title overall. Wawrinka smashed his racket after giving up two set points and the fourth-seeded Nadal sealed it on his first, when the Swiss player returned long.  It was the Swiss player's 17th unforced error. Nadal, who had taken the first set 6-2, broke early in the second and stretched his winning run of games to seven before Wawrinka managed to get on the board again. Nadal dominance at Roland Garros remains unmatched.

In Saturday's women's final,  unseeded Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia used bold strokes and an unbending will to come back and stun No. 3 Simona Halep 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in an enthralling French Open final for the first title of her career. Ostapenko, ranked only 47th and just two days past her 20th birthday, became one of the most unlikely Grand Slam champions in tennis history. She also denied Halep what would have been her first major championship and the No. 1 ranking.

R. Harrison and M. Venus won Men’s doubles trophy. L. Safarova and B. Mattek-Sands won Women’s doubles trophy. G. Dabrowski and R. Bopanna won Mixed doubles trophy at French Open 2017. Next major tournament of Tennis is Wimbledon which will start from 3 July 2017 and will last till 17 July 2017.
