New England Patriots win Super Bowl LIII

Once again, the New England Patriots are champions, grinding to win Super Bowl LIII 13-3 at Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta and launching Tom Brady and Bill Belichick into a different stratosphere. They have now won six Super Bowls together, extending their record for the most by a head coach and starting quarterback combination. With the win, the Patriots are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl titles in NFL history.

Brady now has won more Super Bowls than any other player in history, surpassing Pro Football Hall of Famer Charles Haley (five). At 41 years old, Brady also is the oldest starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl, eclipsing Peyton Manning, who was 39 when he won Super Bowl 50.

Belichick is the oldest head coach to win a Super Bowl at age 66, and no head coach has won more Super Bowls than him. Now, he joins George Halas and Curly Lambeau as the only NFL head coaches with six championships since the league began postseason play in 1933. This was the pair's ninth Super Bowl appearance together, the most title games for any head coach and starting quarterback duo in NFL history.

Brady was 21-for-35 passing for 262 yards, and most of those yards went to wide receiver Julian Edelman, who is boosting his hall-of-fame resume. Edelman -- who was named the game's MVP -- had 10 catches for 141 yards. In addition to already having the second-most receptions in postseason history, he's now second all-time in postseason receiving yards. He trails just the legendary Jerry Rice in both categories.

Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 2018

One of the NFL’s most historically snakebitten clubs ended their 57 year championship drought in the most thrilling way imaginable at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, racing to an early lead against the New England Patriots, going step for step in a track meet with the defending champions and the greatest quarterback ever.

Seventy-four total points. An eye-popping 1,151 yards of combined offense, breaking the previous Super Bowl record before the fourth quarter even started and more than any game in NFL history, regular season or playoffs. Eagles 41, Patriots 33, it was one of the greatest Super Bowls ever played.

With the Eagles nursing a 38-33 lead and just over two minutes left, Philadelphia’s veteran defensive end Brandon Graham finally recorded the first sack of the game for either side. Brady, the three-time league most valuable player and five-time Super Bowl champion, lost control of the ball, which took a fortuitous bounce into the hands of Derek Barnett.

The first half had been a breathless flurry of offense, with the teams combining for nearly 700 yards.. The Patriots accounted for 350 of them, no small feat against Philadelphia’s stout defense. When play resumed, Gronkowski quickly made his presence felt. He gouged the Philadelphia defense for catches of 25 and 24 yards, and then picked up a crucial third down with a 14-yard sideline catch before hauling in a five-yard touchdown grab and punctuating it with a signature spike.

Nick Foles, the 29-year-old understudy who took over for Wentz less than two months ago and who two years ago was mulling retirement, completed 28 of 43 passes for 373 yards, three passing touchdowns and one more receiving. It will almost certainly be his last game with the Eagles, with Wentz, the quarterback of the future who was the odds-on favorite to win Most Valuable Player honors until his late-season ACL injury, set to return when the 2018 season begins.

New Zealand won Rugby World Cup 2015

The 2015 Rugby World Cup was the eighth Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial rugby union world championship. The tournament was hosted by England from 18 September to 31 October 2015. New Zealand won the cup for the third time and two consecutive years. Australia took second place as runner up and South Africa took third place.

England was chosen to host the competition in July 2009, beating rival bids from Italy, Japan and South Africa. Of the 20 teams competing the 2015 World Cup, 12 of them qualified by finishing in the top three place in their pools in the 2011 World Cup. The other eight teams qualified through regional competition. Next and ninth Rugby World Cup will held in Japan from 20 September to 2 November 2019.

New Zealand won the game by 34-17. Wonderful tries from Milner-Skudder and Nonu had given the all blacks a 21-3 lead early in the second half before David Pocock and Tevita struck back. With 15 Minutes to go there was just four points in it, but a nerveless long distance drop goal and penalty from Dan Carter snatched back control. In the end, Barrett sprinted away on to Ben Smith clearing kick at the death history was made.

After Missing the 2011 World Cup final through Injury, this was the perfect ending for world Rugby most perfect 10 Dan Carter, who also won Man of the Match award. No team has ever scored so many in the first period of a World Cup Final, and the brilliance resumed a minute into the second half.
