Karnataka Premier League (KPL) is
an Indian Twenty20 cricket League established by Karnataka State Cricket
Association in August 2009. The domestic cricket competition is modeled along
the lines of the popular Indian Premier League. The sponsor of KPL is Bangalore
based Real Estate Developer, Mantri Developers. They remained sponsor for five
years just like DLF was for IPL.
This year the fourth season is
taking place. The tournament is scheduled from 3rd September 2015 to
19th September 2015. Final of KPL will take place in Mysore. The last
tournament was won by Mangalore United. Bangalore Provident (Rural) won the
first season of the tournament. Large number of players was auctioned for the
tournament. The tournament is a round robin format tournament where each team
plays against each other and top four are advanced to the semi-finals.
Some of the players in Indian
Cricket Team were part of KPL in 2014. Indian Opener KL Rahul was the top
scorer with a century. KK Nair was also the part of KPL. MA Aggarwal, Vinay
Kumar, and Manish Pandey have rich experience of playing in KPL. Vinay Kumar
and Abhimanyu Mithun are Bowlers who had played for India. Final will held in
Mysore on 19th September 2015, till than stay tuned.
