Liverpool wins the UEFA Champions League Final 2019

Mohamed Salah scored one of the fastest ever goals in a Champions League final and Divock Origi struck late as Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid and won the trophy for the sixth time. Less than two minutes had been played when Salah smashed in his spot-kick after Moussa Sissoko had been penalized for a handball in the area.

A disappointing final never truly got going after that, but Liverpool will not care, as they saw Alisson Becker make several confident saves in the latter stages before substitute Origi drilled in the killer second in the 87th minute. That led to an explosion of joy from their supporters inside the Metropolitano Stadium as Jurgen Klopp's side made up for their defeat in last year's final against Real Madrid and the deflation of missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.
Salah has his redemption after injury ruined his night against Real in Kiev and the revered Klopp has his first trophy as Liverpool manager, three and a half years on from his arrival at the club. The German ends a run of six straight defeats in finals. More importantly, Liverpool has their sixth European Cup, further cementing their status as one of football's most storied clubs.

They now have more than Barcelona or Bayern Munich, and twice as many as their great rivals Manchester United. Perhaps the occasion was just too much for Tottenham in their first-ever appearance in the Champions League final. Beating Liverpool was always going to be a big ask, and they have now lost all three meetings with these opponents this season, winning just one of their last 15 encounters.

Real Madrid wins UEFA Champions League 2018

It was an epic night, filled with so many different storylines and for Liverpool goalkeeper, Loris Karius, his part in the story will be remembered just as long as Gareth Bale’s incredible bicycle kick or the sight of Salah’s tears.

Bale’s overhead volley, only two minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute, will go straight into the list of greatest all-time goals in a Champions League final and put Madrid on their way to emulating the great Ajax and Bayern Munich of the 1970s by winning this trophy three years in a row.
That, however, tells only part of the narrative from a night when the harsh reality for Liverpool is that Karius was a danger to his own team. His mistake for Karim Benzema to open the scoring was bad enough but the error that led to Bale’s second goal was possibly even worse. Liverpool had started so fearlessly. They were quick to the ball, strong in the challenge and utterly determined to play the game at their pace.

Real hasn't lost a Champions League final since 1981, and they become the first team to win three in a row since Bayern Munich in the mid-70s. Liverpool loses the final, loses Salah to injury finishes the season empty handed with one of their own suffering one of the cruelest fates in the sports, carrying guilt he may have a hard time letting go of for some time.

England won FIFA U-17 World Cup

England came from two goals down to defeat European champions Spain 5-2 and wins their first FIFA U-17 World Cup title in front of 66,684 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata.
In what was a pulsating final contest at India 2017, Spain raced out to a two-goal lead through a brace from Sergio Gomez. The Barcelona youngster opened the scoring just ten minutes in, nodding home in front of England goalkeeper Curtis Anderson after Juan Miranda’s cross from the left struck Cesar Gelabert and bounced goal wards. Gomez’s second goal just after the half-hour mark was a fine strike from close range, with Gelabert and Captain Abel Ruiz involved in the build-up.

Undeterred, England fought back to score five unanswered goals. They halved the deficit just before half-time through Brewster’s tournament-leading eighth goal. The Liverpool striker headed home Steven Sessegnon’s fine cross from the right. Sessegnon’s willingness to get forward and support the England attack drew them level just before the hour mark, as his low cross found an unmarked Morgan Gibbs White to make it 2-2. The Young Lions then took the lead through Philip Foden’s second goal of the tournament on 69 minutes, as he converted Callum Hudson-Odoi’s run and cross.

Any hopes of a Spain comeback ended on 84 minutes, as Marc Guehi finished off a Hudson-Odoi free-kick for England’s fourth before Foden raced in on the counter-attack for his second of the match in the late stages. England’s win follows the U-20’s success at Korea Republic 2017 earlier this year. Brazil finished as the third place team and also won Fair Play Award. Gabriel Brazao won the Adidas Golden Glove award. Rhian Brewster won the Adidas Golden Boot and Philip Foden won the Adidas Golden Ball.

UEFA Europa League 2016

Sevilla continued their reign as kings of the UEFA Europa League as a rousing second half fight back proved too much for Liverpool at Basel and secured them an unprecedented third straight title in the competition and a record extending fifth overall.
Sevilla were in their third successive final whereas Liverpool had not appeared in a European showpiece for nine years, yet there was little sign of nerves from the English newcomers. Emre Can forced the first save of the evening from David before ten minutes had been played, then Daniel Carrico acrobatically cleared a Daniel Sturridge header off the line. Roared on by a fair portion of crowd, Liverpool kept coming, with Soria quickly off his line to block another Sturridge effort.

Captain Marvel and Sevilla hero, Coke is not a natural goal scorer. His 169 games for Sevilla before tonight brought a grand total of 13 goals. A right back by trade, he has been used in midfield this term and twice he turned up in the right place at the right time. Disappointed to be a substitute last season, here he scored two and lifted the trophy. Eight of the last 13 teams to lift this trophy have been from the Liga and this triumph was tenth in all.

Spain surpasses Italy as the leading nation in the competition history. It is a similar story in the European Cup, where Real Madrid and Atletico will face in ten days, time to become the fifth Spanish winner in eight seasons.
